$185 towards $250

It is a personal mission of mine to support programs I relied upon in my youth as the community havens that shaped my life’s trajectory. LA Commons is a place where youth find their voice and create a space where art, policy, and expression can co-exist.

Please help me put an investment into the next generation of leaders.

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for LA Commons.

This year, we are calling upon our key partners to rally friends, family, and networks to support LA Commons’ work at the intersection of health, community leadership, and arts/culture. We hope to raise $15,000 by the end of June!

The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Seeding Change,’ as LA Commons continues to figuratively [and sometimes literally] sow seeds throughout LA. In light of a socially, economically, and geographically fragmented Los Angeles, LA Commons seeds changes by:

SPROUTING GROWTH, NURTURING YOUTH ARTISTS AND COMMUNITIES & INVESTING IN FLOURISHING NEIGHBORHOODS!

Festival of Masks Event

Our campaign will culminate with our 13th annual Day of the Ancestors: Festival of Masks, themed ‘Seeds of the Village’, which centers on Leimert Park Ancestors who planted the seeds of art, culture and wellness and features artists and cultural workers who carry their vision forward. Six weeks of workshops free to the community in West African and Diaspora Dance and Drum, Mask Making and Gardening Arts will culminate in the festival that features procession, performances and a village feast. Due to your continued support, our program will directly impact approximately 3,000 participants and an additional 10,000 - 20,000 indirectly via social media!

An Ancestor
If you would like to make a donation to honor an ancestor/s, please add their name/s in the notes. All photo/s will be mounted on the larger, collective community installation at the event on Sunday, June 25th (Join Us!).

Your ancestor could be someone you know or anyone who's 'planted the seeds' of courage, hope, and love.
Any donation is appreciated. After you donate, I will be in touch with you to request a photo or memento and will also mail your thank you gift! (and a photo of the larger installation, of course). A million thanks!!

In sacred ceremony,
-Teresa
