Dearest LA Commons community,
Thanks to you, LA Commons has been able to serve more youth and artists throughout Los Angeles. Your support and belief in our cause fuel our work with youth, artists, and South LA residents, leading to more resilient, vibrant communities throughout our shared city and county.
This year, we are calling upon our key partners to rally friends, family, and networks to support LA Commons’ work at the intersection of health, community leadership, and arts/culture. We hope to raise $15,000 by the end of June!
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Seeding Change,’ as LA Commons continues to figuratively [and sometimes literally] sow seeds throughout communities. In light of a socially, economically, and geographically fragmented Los Angeles, LA Commons seeds changes by:
SPROUTING GROWTH, NURTURING VIBRANT NEIGHBORHOODS, & INVESTING IN FLOURISHING COMMUNITIES!
Our campaign will culminate with our 13th annual Day of the Ancestors: Festival of Masks, themed ‘Seeds of the Village’, which centers on Leimert Park Ancestors who planted the seeds of art, culture and wellness and features artists and cultural workers who carry their vision forward. Six weeks of workshops free to the community in West African and Diaspora Dance and Drum, Mask Making and Gardening Arts will culminate in the festival that features procession, performances, and a village feast. Due to your continued support, our program will directly impact approximately 3,000 participants and an additional 10,000 - 20,000 indirectly via social media!
Will you help Empower LA residents to tell their unique stories for shared empowerment and dialogue?
Don’t worry - we’ll assist you along the way. The development team will be providing 2 informational sessions [which will be recorded], drop in office hours, and a fundraiser tool kit so we can create change together!
